About: The City of Charles Sturt has taken a bold step with its Living Streets – Renown Park project, reimagining how streets can function as green, community centred spaces.

This project is transforming traditional road corridors into greener, safer and more inviting places. This means new trees, water sensitive urban design features (such as raingardens to filter and slow stormwater), and improved pedestrian connections.

The project shows how urban greening can deliver cooling, habitat and social benefits all at once.

It’s a powerful example of how achieving greener streets can complement a range of other community benefits.

Strategy alignment: Priority 3, Action 3

Status:

  • COMPLETED – Stage 1, all works now finalised on Wright Street and Bishop Street.
  • TO START – Tait Street and Blight Street construction.
