The Urban Greening Strategy focuses on 6 priorities: Cooler, greener and healthier development, Government leading by example, Building nature back in, Future-proofing our urban forest, Improving greening equity and Scaling up impact by working together.

Across these priorities, 37 actions have been identified — and many projects are already delivering on them. Some projects contribute to several actions at once, creating even greater benefits.

Measuring success

The success of the Urban Greening Strategy will be measured by monitoring impact through key indicators like tree canopy cover, urban heat levels, and plant diversity. These measures show how the strategy is making a real difference on the ground.

The strategy's 3 measures of success, include:

  1. Increase urban tree canopy cover, targeting 30% by 2055.
  2. Reduce urban heat, targeting TBC.
  3. Improve plant species diversity, targeting TBC.
