Now’s your chance to BreakOUT at this wonderful nature haven in Adelaide’s west. Here’s what’s in store for a very special one-day event.

Did you know that Breakout Creek / Purruna Pari at the westernmost end of the River Torrens / Karrawirra Pari has undergone a major transformation over the past few years?

This special stretch of the river has been the focal point of a redevelopment that’s turned an artificial channel into a more natural looking and functioning waterway.

With 245,000 new native plants and trees, 2 habitat pools and 2 stormwater wetlands to support native fish and water plants, it’s a big win for the local environment.

And it’s a big win for the community too.

The precinct now includes more than 6 km of trails perfect for walking, running or riding, picnic shelters and viewing platforms to relax and take in the landscape, and a series of stunning Kaurna artworks to connect the community with the land’s traditional owners.

Breakout Creek / Purruna Pari might be one of Adelaide’s best-kept nature secrets – until now!

If you haven’t been before, now’s the time to come and discover the area – at BreakOUT – Discover Breakout Creek / Purruna Pari on Saturday 15 November.

There’ll be food, drink, entertainment and free kids’ activities, including these attractions:

Dinosaur puppets

Wander around the precinct and meet 6 baby dinosaurs – Tilly the Triceratops, Blue the Velociraptor, Terry the T-Rex, Ptash Pterodactyl, Stanley the Stegosaurus and Poppy the Parasaurolophus.

Nylon Zoo

Think giant, brightly coloured, inflatable animals! With Nylon Zoo you can be as immersed as you like, whether it’s admiring them from the beautiful riverbanks or crawling inside for storytime.

Face painting

Need we say more? Everyone loves to get their face painted, but when was the last time you got to wait in that line with a river as the backdrop? Don’t worry, there will be plenty to keep you and the kids occupied while you’re there.

Bubbles

Who doesn’t love bubbles! Especially when they are massive and make incredible shapes, glistening like they do in the sunlight.

Craft activities

Want something a little more hands-on for the kids? Get creative in one of our 3 craft zones, inspired by nature of course.

Plus live music, food and drink, of course!

Whether you like to get amongst the activities, kick back with a bite to eat, listen to the acoustic performers, or simply enjoy the area at your own pace, there really is something for everyone. Check out all the details below:
