Nature Festival returns from 25 September to 11 October 2026, capturing a statewide celebration of nature, culture and community.
Now in its seventh year, the festival's theme Seed explores the small beginnings that shape our future, from the gardens we grow and the stories we share, to the connections we build with each other and the natural world.
With more than 350 events taking place across metropolitan and regional South Australia, the festival offers opportunities for people of all ages to experience nature through art, food, music, wellbeing, outdoor adventure, gardening, conservation and cultural experiences. Hundreds of free and family-friendly activities will be available, encouraging people to get outdoors and engage with the environments and communities around them.

The Three Sacred Rivers at the Heart of Kaurna Country
Join Jeffery Newchurch, Allan Sumner and Neal Draper as they describe the cultural heritage significance of the three sacred rivers for Kaurna people: the Kadlitparri (Wild Dog River), the Karrawirraparri (the River of the Red-Gum Forest), and the Nangkiparri (the Women’s River).
Curriculum Beyond the Classroom at Breakout Creek
This free professional development for teachers will take place at the stunning redeveloped Breakout Creek / Purruna Pari and provide great ideas for how teachers can get students learning outside the classroom.
Finding nature near you- a wildlife walk
Learn how to find and observe your local wild worlds right in your own neighbourhood! The nature walk will take place in Victoria Park and teach you how spot nature all around you.
Kadlitpari / Gawler River: Seeds of Hope for Revitalising Our River Region
Join us at Lewiston Wetlands to discover practical strategies for restoring one of the ecosystems of the Kadlitpari / Gawler River region.
Webinar: The Mysteries and Marvels of Seeds
From remarkable dispersal strategies to hidden dormancy mechanisms, every seed has a story and has evolved unique ways to maximise their chance of survival. Join Green Adelaide flora ecologist Rhys Morgan, and Nature Festival's Resident Seed Steward Mitchell Livingston, for a fascinating talk exploring the incredible world of seeds.

Delivered through a network of more than 200 community groups and organisations, Nature Festival continues to strengthen South Australia's reputation as a place where people value and celebrate nature. The program encourages participation and action, inspiring South Australians to contribute to a greener, cooler and more connected future.
The festival also supports regional creativity through a series of community micro-grants, helping local groups deliver unique projects that reflect the landscapes, stories and environments of their communities.
